Merit award nominations due

Nominations are being sought for the 1993 Professional and Salaried
Staff Merit Award Program. Nominations should be sent, with supporting
documents, to the office of the vice president of the unit of the nominee
by Feb. 15.
The goal of the program is to acknowledge outstanding, individual
contributions by employees to the University during 1993. The names of the
recipients will be published in UpDate, and a reception honoring them will
be held May 6.
The $50,000 allocated for salaried staff awards will be divided into
100 awards of $500 each, as requested by the Salaried Staff Advisory
Council. All permanent full- and part-time salaried staff who have been in
their current unit for a minimum of one year and who did not receive the
award in 1993 are eligible.
The $50,000 allocated for professional awards will be divided into 50
awards of $1,000 each, as suggested by the Professional Advisory Council.
All full- and part-time professional staff with a minimum of one year of
University service are eligible, with the exception of officers of
administration, deans, chairs, directors of major functions and other
designated senior professionals.
Each vice president will announce the nomination process to be
followed in the respective units.
