Blue plastic recycling folders for high-grade office paper
White office paper and computer printout paper (CPO)
White office paper should be placed in the blue plastic recycling
folder. Place the recycling folder in a convenient location on the desk
top.
White office paper is defined as: bonded white paper, letterhead,
stationery and Xerox (copy) machine paper. Black and colored inks are
acceptable as are white paper envelopes, as long as the plastic window is
torn out and any pressure-sensitive, adhesive mailing labels are removed.
Staples and paper clips are okay, although it's helpful if you remove the
paper clips because they are reusable.
Most computer printout paper (CPO) is high-grade paper, including
"green bar" and "blue bar." Therefore, CPO should also be placed in the
blue plastic recycling folder.
As the folder begins to fill with white paper or CPO, it will need to
be emptied. Contents of the folder should be emptied into the closest White
Paper Only collection container. These collection containers, marked "White
Paper Only," are located within office areas, work stations or in the
hallways of major academic and office buildings. The custodial staff will
collect the white paper and CPO paper from these containers and place it in
clear plastic bags. These bags will be taken from the building and placed
at collection points, where they will be picked up by the University's
recycling contractor.
What should not be placed in the high grade office paper recycling system:
* NO plastic windows in envelopes
* NO pressure-sensitive, adhesive mailing labels
* NO rubber bands
* NO paper cups/plates/napkins/bags/lunch bags
* NO carbon paper or waxed paper
* NO food debris
* NO manila mailing envelopes
* NO thermal fax paper
If you have large quantities of high-grade, white office paper and
need assistance in recycling it, please contact the building custodian or
call the Grounds Office at 831-2624.
DO NOT place loose paper in the outside recycling containers. All
material must be placed in clear plastic bags before being placed in the
recycling containers outside any University building.
