Consumer Economics made presentations at the International Textile and

Springs, W.Va. M. Jo Kallal received the faculty design award for most
creative solution to a design problem with her coat that integrated
the piecing techniques of Italian futurists with motifs and colors of
pre-Colombian shields in Mexico; Lynne Dixon-Speller and JoAnne Shaw
were faculty finalists in the runway show design competition, as were
students Jill Bowser and Amber Deweese sponsored by Mary Jane Matranga
and students Bina Mistry and Claudia Pinto sponsored by Karen
Schaeffer; Kallal and Matranga designed and illustrated catalogs for
the ITAA Design Competition Runway Show and the ITAA Design
Exhibition; Rosetta LaFleur, who presided at the plenary session on
"Developing Quick Response Vendor Partnerships for the '90s,"
presented a workshop, "Merchandise Planning with ARTHUR Merchandise
Planning System," and a paper, "Manufacturer-Sponsored Logo Design
Competition as Instructional Strategy for Merchandising Students"; and
Jane M. Lamb presented a poster, "Linking Apparel Design and
Merchandising Programs with Industry," and served as a panelist on
"Diversity Among Our Stakeholders: Bridging Interests, Enhancing
