Benefit bazaar
The University chapter of Mortar Board national honor society will
sponsor a holiday bazaar from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 8
and 9.
Located in front of the University Bookstore in the Perkins Student
Center, the bazaar will feature items handmade by members of the Adult Day
Care Center on campus. Proceeds will benefit the center.

Deck the halls
A sale of holiday wreaths, garlands and cyclamens, sponsored by the
first-year Longwood graduate fellows, will be held from 9:30 a.m.-5:30
p.m., Thursday, Dec. 2, and from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 3, in
the concourse of the Perkins Student Center. For further information, call

Holiday dance
A Holiday Dance is being held from 8-11 tonight, in the front gym of
the Carpenter Sports Building. The semiformal dance, sponsored by
Recreation and Intramural Programs, will feature the Serenaders, a 13-piece
orchestra, and a light dinner buffet.
To attend, individuals must register at the Carpenter Sports Building
front desk from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Advanced tickets are $5 for U.D. full-time students and $10 for all
others. At the door, all tickets are $12.
PT career day
Physical Therapy Career Day, sponsored by Career Planning and
Placement, will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 3, in the Rodney
Room of the Perkins Student Center. Hospitals, rehabilitation centers,
private clinics and governmental health organizations will be represented.

Campus surplus sale
More than 80 items-including furniture, appliances, shelving, desks,
bookcases and carpeting-will be offered at a "cash and carry" sale,
scheduled from noon-3 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 8, in the Central Receiving
area of the General Services Building.
A preview will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 7.

Menorah lighting
A lighting of the menorah, celebrating the first night of Hanukkah,
will begin at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 8, in the Ewing Room of the
Perkins Student Center.
Hanukkah is a holiday celebrating religious tolerance and freedom, and
the University community is invited to attend the event, sponsored by
Chabad House.
There will be music and refreshments.
Awareness meeting
Students for Awareness will hold a general meeting for all interested
persons at 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 6, at Room 007 of the Willard Hall
Education Building. On Dec. 8, the next issue of the delAwarean, published
by this student group, will be distributed.
Staff luncheon
The December Staff Association luncheon will take place from noon-1
p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 7, in the Rodney Room of the Perkins Student Center.
Featured guest will be singer Wanda Cook, administrative assistant in
the Faculty Senate Office, who will be accompanied by Michael Arenson,
associate professor of music.
Cook and Arenson will perform holiday carols, country songs and big
band music.
A complimentary luncheon is being provided by ARA Services. Seating is
limited to 175 people.

Winter fitness
Registration for Winter Session fitness programs begins Monday, Dec.
13, with classes starting on Tuesday, Jan. 4.

Tavern opening
The grand re-opening of the Tavern at the Blue and Gold Club will be
held from 5-10 p.m., Friday, Dec. 17. All University employees are invited,
and membership is not required for this event.
The celebration will feature complimentary appetizers, specially
priced drinks and prizes.
Although reservations are not required, replies are requested by Dec.
14.

Gardening training
Experienced gardeners are invited to apply for Master Gardener
training in horticulture from the University's Cooperative Extension office
by Dec. 31. In return, participants are asked to become volunteers in home
gardening projects, lectures and a telephone answering service in New
Castle County. Training begins in February.
