     Kathleen A. Hollowell, mathematical sciences, assumed the presidency
     of Delaware Council of Teachers of Mathematics at Project 301
     Mathematics Conference, Nov. 13, Ocean City.

     A special publication of Advances in Solar Energy was dedicated to
     Karl W. Boer, Distinguished Professor of Physics and Solar Energy. The
     special volume, vol. 8, includes the acceptance speech by Jimmy Carter
     when he received the Karl W. Boer Solar Energy Award, Feb. 15, at the
     University of Delaware, all papers presented at that day's symposium
     and several invited papers.

     Robert P. Mulrooney and D.P. Whittington, plant and soil sciences,
     were members of the Potomac Division team that won the deBary Bowl
     competition with a 5-0 record at Conference of American
     Phytopathological Society, Nov. 6-10, Nashville. This College
     Bowl-type competition is held among the five divisions of the society,
     representing all U.S. universities. Robert B. Carroll, plant and soil
     sciences, served as councilor of the Potomac Division, representing
     several hundred scientists from universities, government and industry.

     Herbert E. Allen, civil engineering, appointed to editorial board of
     the journal Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry for two years.

     Madeline Lambrecht, nursing, elected to board of directror, Pendel
     Chapter, Association for Death Education and Counseling, 1993-95.

     Dallas G. Hoover, food science, serves as ad hoc peer reviewer for
     grant research proposals submitted to USDA Binational Agricultural
     Research and Development program.

     Claytona J. DeCapua, individual and family studies, presented 1993
     Outstanding Service Award by Alliance for Mentally Ill in Delaware
     (AMID),  Oct. 4.

     Marian L. Palley, political science and international relations,
     served as program chair of the Southern Political Science Association
     annual meeting, Nov. 3-6, Savannah.
