Saturday A.M. Music set to offer four programs this fall
Registrations are still being accepted for the University's fall
Saturday A.M. Music Program, which offers area residents four types of
music study: Kindermusik Beginnings, Kindermusik, Elementary Music
Workshops and private instrumental and voice instruction.
All private lessons and Kindermusik classes are held in the Amy E. du
Pont Music Building. On Saturdays, free parking is available in the lot
adjacent to the building.
Kindermusik Beginnings is a program for children 18 months to 3 years,
accompanied by an adult. Materials include a tape and book so that
activities can be continued at home.
Kindermusik is a program of music enrichment and enjoyment for 4- to
6-year-olds that includes singing, movement activities, listening exercises
and instrumental play.
Elementary Music Workshop is a Kindermusik-type experience for older
children ages 6-8. Recorder instruction is included with an emphasis on
creating an ensemble with children singing or playing the recorder while
others accompany them on glockenspiels and drums. For information or
registration materials on Kindermusik classes, call 239-8281.
The other component of the Saturday A.M. Music program, private
instruction, is a 12-week session of low cost, professional, one-to-one
instruction.
Lessons, open to everyone ages 6 through adult, are offered in the
following performing areas: flute/piccolo, oboe, bassoon, clarinet,
saxophone, trumpet, horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, percussion (all), piano
and guitar. Voice lessons are open to anyone over the age of 15.
Enrollment is limited in certain areas, and lessons will be scheduled
upon receipt of application with fees.
Fall private lessons begin Saturday, Sept. 11, and continue through
Dec. 11, excluding Oct. 23 (fall break) and Nov. 27 (Thanksgiving weekend).
Cost per individual is $115 for the 12-week session. There is a family
discount available for two or more members of the same family.
