Training in computing
Listed below are the Computing and Network Services (CNS) User
Services computing seminars for the next two weeks. A complete User
Education Schedule is published before the beginning of each semester
and sent to all faculty and staff.
If you would like a copy for reference, please send electronic
mail to user@brahms or call 831-8445. Registration is required for
these seminars.
A beginner class is for someone totally new to the computer or
system. A novice class is for individuals who have used the system but
not the software package.
An advanced class is for those who have used the system and the
software and want to learn more about the advanced capabilities.
Handouts that you can keep are not generally distributed in
classes. Starred items (*) below indicate classes for which you can
obtain a free handout before class from the User Services Reference
Library, in 014 Smith Hall.
Two starred items (**) indicate handouts included in
documentation bundles that you may purchase from the University
Bookstore.

More About Lotus 1-2-3 - Release 2.2: Graphics (Advanced)*
Prerequisite: Experience with Lotus 1-2-3-Release 2.01 or 2.2.

Introduction to Aldus PageMaker (Macintosh) (Advanced)*
Prerequisites: Experience with Macintosh and familiarity with
Microsoft Word or MacWrite.

Electronic communication classes
Introduction to EMC2 Mail, the Mail System on MVS (Beginner)
Prerequisites: Attendee MUST have obtained an MVS account and
password and have logged onto MVS at least once before attending
class. To obtain an account, contact the Helpline at 831-6000.
* Sending, reading, and answering mail messages
* Managing mail (saving messages in folders and reading messages
from folders)

Sun workstation class
Demonstration of Sun Workstation Graphics (Advanced)
Small, informal demonstrations the third Thursday of every month
beginning in October. Instructor will demonstrate various graphics
packages available for Sun Workstations especially PV-Wave. To
register, please call Suzanne Goodrich at 831-1982. When you call to
register, please be prepared to discuss the types of graphics problems
or specific packages you would like to see. Each demonstration will be
tailored to individual needs.
