Tuition exchange
Applications are now available for participation in the
University's Tuition Exchange Program (TEP) for fall 1993. Under the
terms of the program, dependent children of eligible faculty,
professional, salaried staff and hourly employees may apply to attend
one of approximately 300 colleges and universities participating in
the national consortium. The dependent must meet the resident
institution's admission requirements.
For further information on the Tuition Exchange Program, contact
the Employee Services Office, Academy Building, at 831-6651. Completed
applications must be returned to Employee Services by Oct. 23.
Distribution survey
Recently, the UpDate staff mailed a distribution survey to all
department secretaries. Please complete and return the surveys as soon
as possible.

Breast cancer seminar
Students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend a breast cancer
seminar from noon-1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the Collins Room of
the Perkins Student Center.
Two speakers will discuss the Breast Cancer Prevention Trial
being conducted at the Medical Center of Delaware. There will be
literature available to the participants.
The program is sponsored by the Office of Women's Affairs and the
Employee Assistance and Wellness Program.
Science conference
The International Society of African Scientists will sponsor a
conference in Wilmington on "The Role of Science and Technology in the
Democratic Ideals of Developing Countries."
Keynote speaker for the conference is Ali Mazrui, noted author
and narrator of the TV series, "The Africans: A Triple Heritage."
The conference will be held Oct. 16-17 at the Wilmington Hilton.

Winter registration
Registration is set Oct. 14-20 for the University's 1993 Winter
Session, which is scheduled Jan. 4-Feb. 5. Individuals can sign up for
a wide variety of credit courses to be offered in Dover, Georgetown,
Newark and Wilmington.
Registration will be held at the University's continuing
education locations at the Wilcastle Center, 2800 Pennsylvania Ave.,
Wilmington, and in Clayton Hall from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday through
Thursday, and from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Friday.
In southern Delaware, the University staff at the Higher
Education Building in Georgetown and at the University's Dover
classrooms on the Delaware Tech campus will take registrations from
8:30 a.m.-noon and 1-4:30 p.m. Evening registration sessions at the
southern Delaware locations will be available from 6:30-8 p.m. on Oct.
15 in Georgetown and on Oct. 19 in Dover.
Payment is not due at the time of registration. Fees can be paid
until the Dec. 3 deadline. Catalogs detailing the courses scheduled
during Winter Session are available at any of these locations.

Parenting lecture
The University Women's Club will sponsor a
parenting/grandparenting lecture at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 26, in 004
Kirkbride Hall.
Dads and granddads also are encouraged to attend. This lecture is

Staff luncheon Oct. 15
Nancy Thompson, assistant manager from A.C. Moore arts and crafts
store, will show how to create professional looking Halloween and
Christmas decorations at the staff association luncheon, scheduled
from noon-1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 15, in the Rodney Room of the Perkins
Student Center.
The cost is $6 for a prepared lunch and $1 for those who bring a
brown bag.
Make checks payable to the University of Delaware and send them,
by Oct. 9, to Cyndi Timko at the Office of University Development.
Holiday craft sale
The University Women's Club will present its annual Holiday
Handcraft Sale in the gallery of the Perkins Student Center Nov.
18-20.
Items must be handmade, but need not be holiday oriented.
Exhibitors will be expected to work for three hours during the sale
and contribute 20 percent of any sales to the Women's Club Scholarship
Fund. The deadline for entry is Nov. 11.
