October 8, 1992
Minority business group formed

Terry Whittaker, director of Fortune 2000, the minority student
business program in the College of Business and Economics, met with
approximately 30 minority students on Sept. 30.
The first general meeting was held to review the year's
activities and to initiate the Delaware chapter of the National
Student Business League for minority business students. A reception
with faculty members followed.
According to Whittaker, who is also assistant dean of student
special services in the college, the goal of the college's Fortune
2000 program is threefold: to increase the number of academically
prepared minority students who major in business and economics, to
increase the number who excel academically and to increase the number
of minority business graduates who pursue graduate business studies
and/or obtain managerial and leadership positions in industry.
The National Student Business League, a new organization on
campus, will serve as a forum for disseminating information pertaining
to business and the needs of minority students, act as link between
minority students and the business community and promote
professionalism and success among minority students.
