Tickets tight for Chicago concert

     The date: Oct. 17
     The time: 8 p.m.
     The place: Delaware Field House
     The event: Chicago in concert.

All you need now is your ticket and, believe it or not, seats are
still available. Originally, tickets were open only to full-time
undergraduate students with a University I.D. Now tickets-a limited
number to be precise-are still available to everyone with a U.D. I.D.
None, however, will be sold at the door.
The event is sponsored by the Student Programming Association
(SPA), and the price of student tickets for the concert is subsidized
by the Comprehensive Fee, which all full-time undergraduate students
pay at the beginning of each semester.
Chicago is currently on tour with the Moody Blues. However, the
Blues will not be performing on campus on Oct. 17 because the group is
booked somewhere else that day.
Since this is a one-night performance, Chicago will probably
arrive a few hours before the concert to do a sound check.
According to Demgen, mesh-type coverings will be hung behind and
around the stage to capture the sound and enhance the performance.
This new set-up will limit seating. Luckily, the floor in front
of the stage will be open for dancing and mingling. There are no
assigned seats, so if you are looking to get a seat, plan on getting
there early. The doors open between 7 and 7:15 p.m.
Last year, a few progressive/ alternative bands came to campus,
but Demgen' says her experience indicates that "classic rock 'n' roll
sells better than anything else.
Students are not willing to pay money for a band who only have
one or two popular songs."
Chicago was popular 20 years ago, so that age-old saying proves
true: "Everything that goes around, comes around."
Tickets are $10 for full-time undergraduates and $20 for faculty,
staff, graduate and part-time students, with a limit of four tickets
per person. For information, call 831-1296.
