B&G club gets summer R&R

     The Blue & Gold Club opened this fall after a summer's R & R
(renovation and redecoration), and it's more elegant than ever.
For example, the President's Room, located on the second floor,
has a total facelift. New, cream-colored carpet, bordered in blue was
installed. A subtle wallpaper carries out the color scheme, and new
draperies in complementary colors are at the windows. The room is
furnished with new tables and chairs, covered with light-colored
upholstery and brass trim.
Other changes have taken place as well to make the club more
inviting, according to Bonnie Gregus Riddle, marketing director of
food services.
New wing chairs and a coffee table grace the upstairs sitting
area.
All fireplaces, including the one in the Tavern, have been
equipped with gas burning logs for a warm, welcoming effect in fall
and winter, she said. The air conditioning also has been upgraded.
The former rest room on the main floor has been enlarged and
remodeled and is handicapped-asccessible. Another rest room has been
installed, and the coat room has been moved.
The dining room chairs on the main floor have new upholstery,
with gold wreaths on a dark blue background
The sun porch has a dropped ceiling and new ceiling lighting
fixtures with a terra cotta and burnished copper effect
In addition to its new look, the Blue and Gold has new
management, Gregus Riddle said. Andrew Bomba is the new manager, and
Pamela de Haven is associate manager
Bomba, a graduate of Johnson and Wales University, has worked for
a food service company, Hyatt hotels and Sfuzzi, a Philadelphia
restaurant.
Brock, a graduate of the University of Illinois, worked as
Brandywine River Museum special events coordinator, and for Citicorp/
Citibank.
