Blue Hen Dunkley to play in Israel

University of Delaware basketball standout Spencer Dunkley, who was
drafted by the Indiana Pacers, has now signed a one-year contract instead
to play with the Maccabi-Tel Aviv team in Israel.
Maccabi-Tel Aviv, which plays in the top professional league in
Israel, is among the top teams in Europe. The team will begin camp early
this month and will begin play in September.
Dunkley, a 6'11" center, became the fourth Delaware basketball player
in the school's history to be drafted by a professional team. Dunkley, who
set 14 school records, was picked by the Indiana Pacers in the second round
of the annual draft.
As a senior, he earned second team All-East and first-team All-North
Atlantic Conference (NAC) honors in 1992-93 as he helped the Blue Hens earn
a 22-8 record, win the NAC title, and advance to a second straight NCAA
playoff berth.
He averaged 19.2 points per game and ranked fourth in the nation in
both rebounding (12.2) and blocked shots (3.2) per game.
