Library hours
Morris Library hours from Aug. 14-Sept. 1 are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.,
Mondays-Fridays, and 1-5 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays.
Special Collections and the Exhibition Gallery hours are from 9 a.m.-5
p.m., Monday-Friday. The branch libraries (Agriculture, Chemistry, Physics
and Marine Studies) will be open the same hours as the main library on
weekdays from Aug. 14-Sept. 1, and will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
Fall semester hours begin Thursday, Sept. 2, at the Morris Library and
Tuesday, Sept. 7, at branch libraries.

Hagley tours
There is no charge for admission to the Hagley Museum if you come
between 9:30 a.m.-noon, Saturdays, through the end of August. Visitors may
enjoy the museum, residence and grounds until the museum closes at 4:30
p.m. Admission will be charged to those who arrive after 12 p.m.

Convocation
Members of the University community are invited to attend the New
Student Convocation ceremony at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 31, on the
University Mall. James R. Soles, Distinguished Alumni Professor and
chairperson of the Department of Political Science and International
Relations, will address the new students.
Members of the University community who plan to attend should contact
Joanne Forestell in admissions at 831-6331 no later than Aug. 25.
Literacy program
The Literacy Improvement Program will be available again this fall for
employees who wish to upgrade their reading, writing and spelling skills.
There is no charge and there are two sessions to choose from, from
noon-2 p.m. and from 3-5 p.m., both held on Tuesdays and Thursdays,
beginning Sept. 28.
The sessions meet in the first floor conference room at 87 East Main
St. For information or to register, call Kay McCormick at 831-8823.
Music night
Children ages 2-6 can enjoy a night of musical fun with their families
at the University. Activities will be selected from the Kindermusik
curriculum, designed specifically to nurture the musical education and
enjoyment of young children. Free and open to all, the program will be
offered at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 12, and again on Wednesday, Aug. 25, in
Room 120 of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.
The evening includes singing, games, dancing and instrument playing
led by Jill Hannagan. Call 831-2577 to make a reservation.
