U.D. prof receives '93 Huffman Award

Robert H. Wood, professor of chemistry and biochemistry at the
University, has been selected as the recipient of the 1993 Huffman Award.
The premier award presented by the Calorimetry Conference, the Huffman
is given annually to a scientist who has made significant and long-term
contributions to thermodynamics, thermochemistry, and calorimetry.
The award, sponsored by Parr Instrument Co., includes a plaque and a
$1,000 honorarium.
The award address is published in the Journal of Chemical
Thermodynamics.
The Calorimetry Conference is the organization of North American
scientists interested in calorimetry and thermodynamics. It sponsors an
annual meeting where scientists present their latest research results and
is the host organization when the International Union of Pure and Applied
Chemistry holds it chemical thermodynamics conference in the U.S. Wood
joined the University of Delaware in l957.
He was promoted to full professor in l970 and was chairperson of the
chemistry department from l969-1971.
