Alumnus earns Madison Fellowship
Thomas A. Campbell of Bainbridge, Pa., a recent graduate of the
University of Delaware, has been awarded a James Madison Fellowship by the
James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation of Washington, D.C.
Madison Fellowships support further study by recent college graduates
who aspire to become teachers of American history, American government and
social studies in the nation's secondary schools.
Named in honor of the fourth president of the United States, the
fellowship will fund up to $24,000 of Campbell's course of study toward a
master's degree.
At the University of Delaware, Campbell received his bachelor's degree
in history education from the University May 29 and said he hopes to become
a high school social studies teacher.
He has been accepted at several graduate schools and hopes to
concentrate his research on American history and the U.S. Constitution.
