Employees compete in triathlon
Ninety-five individual competitors and 20 three-person teams competed
in the second annual University sprint triathlon sponsored by the College
of Physical Education, Athletics and Recreation held in May.
The first leg of the triathlon was a 500-yard swim (20 lengths) in the
Harry Rawstrom Pool in the Carpenter Sports Building. This was followed by
a 14-mile bike ride along White Clay Creek and into Maryland.
University employees who competed in the race included: John Dohms,
animal science; John Hayman, athletics; MaryBeth Holder, athletics; William
Cain, biology; Cindy Holland and Jack Townsend, Career Planning and
Placement; Ed Heyden, Employee Fitness Center; Bill Beckman, medical
technology, David Barlow and Avron Abraham, physical education; Ken Seaman,
physical therapy; John Jebb, English; Bruce Pyle and Diane Seaman,
recreation; Keith Patton, Management Information Services; Eric Jacobson,
urban affairs and public policy; and Skip White, accounting.
The all-employee team of Dohms, Cain and Jacobson was the first team
to finish with a time of 1:14:07.
