Mushroom floats
Woodhead drifters, 18-inch-long-thin floats resembling mushrooms, are
currently deployed in the Delaware inland bays as part of research to
improve these bodies of water.
Anyone spotting one of the drifters should follow these steps. If
boating on the inland bays and you spot a drifter in the water, please
don't pick it up-it is important that each drifter reach shore. Drifters on
shore should be picked up. Remove the waterproof self-addressed and stamped
return card affixed to the device's long pink "stem," fill out the short
questionnaire on the back of the card and drop it in the mail. The drifters
may be kept as a souvenir.
For information, call 831-2875.
