Promotion and tenure approved for 48 faculty members
The promotion and tenure of 48 University faculty members were
approved by the Board of Trustees at its regular semiannual meeting
Wednesday on the Newark campus.
Sixteen faculty members were promoted to full professor, including Jan
Blits, educational studies; Judith B. Carberry, civil engineering; Martha
L. Carothers, art; Alexander H-D. Cheng, civil engineering; Conrado M.
Gempesaw, food and resource economics; Farley Grubb, economics; Shinya
Kikuchi, civil engineering; Dov Leshchinsky, civil engineering; Mark J.
Miller, political science; James G. Mulligan, economics; Robert E. Neeves,
physical education; Joseph Pika, political science; Peter G. Roe,
anthropology; J. Thomas Simms, plant and soil sciences; Douglass F. Taber,
chemistry and biochemistry; and Michael A. Zinn, music.
Twenty-seven faculty have been promoted to associate professor with
tenure, including Ann L. Ardis, English; Stuart Binder-MacLeod, life and
health sciences; Randall C. Bolton, art; Douglas J. Buttrey, chemical
engineering; Phillip Christie, electrical engineering; Donald E. Conlon,
business administration; Richard A. Cunningham, theatre; Melanie K. DeMent,
music; Patrick M. Gaffney, marine studies; Brian Hanson, geography; Scott
K. Jones, accounting; Calvin L. Keeler, animal science; R. Rogers Kobak,
psychology; Limin Kung, animal science; Madeline E. Lambrecht, nursing
science; Felix Lazebnik, mathematical sciences; Carolyn K. Manning,
nutrition and dietetics; Susan McGeary, geology; Ratna Nandakumar,
educational studies; Debra H. Norris, art conservation; Rakesh,
mathematical sciences; Karen Rosenberg, anthropology; Daniel D. Shade,
individual and family studies; Bruno Thibault, foreign languages and
literatures; K. Vijayashanker, computer and information sciences; George H.
Watson, physics and astronomy; and Xiao-Hai Yan, marine studies.
Kenneth A. Parsons of the University Parallel Program in Wilmington
was promoted to assistant professor; and four individuals at the rank of
associate professor received tenure, including Albert R. Cavalier,
educational studies; Howard B. Johnson, Black American Studies Program;
Ajay K. Manrai, business administration; and Cathy Matson, history.
