Graduating art major's jewelry featured in national exhibition

Jodi Rebhun, a senior art major with an emphasis in metals, found a
creative outlet for dealing with the grief associated with the loss of a
close family relationshiip.
She created a piece of jewelry as a tribute to her brother.
The art-work was chosen for a competitive art show, aptly titled,
"Healing Grief," held at the Galeria Mesa in Mesa, Ariz., early this year.
Rebhun, a graduating senior from Marlboro, N.J., was one of 17 artists
nationwide whose work was chosen.
She said only 22 works were selected from among 242 pieces submitted
for consideration. Her piece, entitled "Forgotten Treasures,"--is a
necklace/table-top object, consisting of a round silver box on a chain with
a sand dollar inside.
When the lid of the box is removed, it becomes a pendant.
Rebhun said she found the sand dollar while visiting her brother to
reconcile their differences, following an estrangement.
"It inspired me to make the piece for him because the treasure that we
had forgotten was our love for each other," Rebhun explained.
Rebhun has been recognized at the University's Undergraduate Art Show.
At this year's campus exhibition, she won two awards for her work.
