Writing workshop
     The Center for Teaching Effectiveness (CTE) will sponsor a workshop on
"Writing Effective Cases and Problems" from 1:30-4:40 p.m., Wednesday, June
16, and from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursday, June 17, in the Ewing Room of the
Perkins Student Center.
     This hands-on workshop will focus on writing effective cases and
problems. Participants will learn how to identify potential situations,
experiences and events that can be developed successfully into cases or
problems for students to use in active learning situations. To register for
this free workshop, call CTE by Friday, May 28, at 831-2027.

Community forum
     An open forum, on issues of change in the Newark community, will be
held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, at the Heritage Hall of the United
Methodist Church on Main Street. Presented by the Friends of Newark, the
program is co-sponsored by the Newark Historical Society and funded by the
Delaware Humanities Forum.
     Tony Felicia, Newark city council member, will present the opening
remarks, to be followed by a slide show and then a panel presentation.
Members of the panel include four members of the University community: Ken
Ackerman, anthropology; Yda Schreuder, geography; John Brook, vice
president for government and public relations; and panel moderator Dave
Smith, life and health sciences.

Virden retreat
     Full-time employees and families can make summer reservations at a
discounted rate at the Virden Retreat Center in Lewes. Rooms are available
on a first-come, first-serve basis.
     The Virden Center is also available for departmental retreats or
conferences. Pay via JV and receive a 10 percent "Blue Hen" discount.

Public auction
     The Department of Public Safety will hold its annual "found property"
auction at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 22, at 79 Amstel Ave. Included in the
items for sale will be bicycles, calculators, jewelry and backpacks.

Hosts needed
     Five University of London undergraduate students who will be serving
summer research apprenticeships on campus need host families for two weeks
of their stay.
     The students will live in residence halls until Aug. 13. Host housing
is needed from Aug. 13-28.

Ushers needed
     Ushers are needed to assist graduates, parents and guests from 7-11
a.m., Saturday, May 29, at Commencement ceremonies. Ushers are not required
