Soccer changes hands
Marc Samonisky (left), Delaware '71, has been named Blue Hen soccer
coach, replacing Loren Kline, who is moving to a teaching position with the
physical education department after 30 years coaching the team.
Samonisky, who has been assistant soccer coach for 19 seasons and was
a place-kicker for the Blue Hens' 1970 Lambert Cup team, is excited about
his new position.
"Soccer is my first love," Samonisky said. "I have learned a great
deal from working with Coach Kline and with baseball coach Robert Hannah
for many years, and I hope to make the program successful."
In his new position, Kline, who is planning to develop a coaching
science program, will handle various administrative duties for the
department of physical education.
"I have enjoyed the association with all the young athletes over the
past 30 years," Kline said, "but it will be a new challenge to encourage
them and help students become qualified coaches."
Kline compiled a 211-197-37 record as soccer coach.
