25 grad fellowships announced

     The Office of Graduate Studies held a reception April 28 to honor
graduate students selected as winners of 1993-94 competitive fellowships
and tuition scholarships.
     Winners were selected by a subcommittee of the Faculty Senate
Committee on Graduate Studies. Fellowships were awarded to 25 students and
six students were selected for tuition scholarships based on
accomplishments and promise as outstanding professionals in their various
fields.
     Fellowship winners are Mary Ellen Bellanca, English; Sunita Kumari
Bhatia, electrical engineering; Regina Lee Blaszczyk, history; Bryan Robert
Chapman, chemical engineering; Jennifer Chu, computer and information
sciences; Stephanie Field, sociology; Nancy Goss, linguistics; Edmund
Grace, geography; Kyunghee Ham, urban affairs and public policy; M.
Katherine Hutchinson, individual and family studies; Louis Edward Keiner,
marine studies; Andrew Frederick Kingery, civil engineering; Kevin Michael
Kit, materials science; Kurt Roland Larsson, physics and astronomy;
Barksdale Maynard, art history; Maureen McKenna, art history; Christine Ann
Modey, English; Diane Piasecki, chemistry and biochemistry;  James Rogers,
computer and information sciences; Katy Ruckdeschel, psychology; Thomas P.
Skourlis, chemical engineering; Nancy Van Dolsen, urban affairs and public
policy; Kathrine L. Varnes, English; James Miller Welch, marine studies;
and Hayes L. Williams, physics and astronomy.
     Tuition scholarship winners are Steven Hoskins, linguistics; Sanja
Kutnjak-Ivkovich, criminology; Jeffrey Lidz, linguistics; Stuart McCaughey,
psychology; Karla Nielson, theatre; and Neva Jean Specht, history.
