Earth Day reminders

The Recycle Monster, created by students Demian Tierney (right) and
Kathryn Roecklein of the Student Environmental Action Coalition (SEAC),
will haunt you if you don't recycle cans, paper, glass and other reusable
materials.
That's one of the many environmental messages from SEAC during its
celebration of Earth Week '93, which began April 19. Each day has had a
different theme: Monday was "recycling day"; Tuesday was "car-out day,"
when members of the University community were encouraged to walk, bike or
use public transportation; and Wednesday was "meat-out day." SEAC also
sponsored a park clean-up and nature walk. The celebration culminates
today, on Earth Day, when a booth in front of the Scrounge will be stocked
with information about SEAC and Earth Week '93. Earth Day supporters also
are invited to a reading of Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, at 5:30 p.m. on
Harrington Beach. SEAC meets at 7 p.m., Wednesdays, in 112 Memorial Hall.
