English profs' show to benefit homeless
The Elderly Brothers-Tom Calhoun and Jerry Beasley, both University
professors of English-will give a performance at 8 p.m., Saturday, May 8,
in the Newark Hall auditorium.
Contributions of $5 for students and senior citizens and $7 for all
others will be accepted at the door. There will be no advance ticket sales.
All proceeds will benefit Homeward Bound Inc's. programs for homeless
families.
E-52 Theatre offers 'Inherit the Wind'
E-52 Student Theatre will present Jerome Lawrence and Robert Lee's
classic play Inherit the Wind at 8:15 p.m., April 30, May 1, 6, 7 and 8.
Tickets are $4.
This American drama is based on the events of the infamous Scopes
Monkey Trial of 1925, when a high school biology teacher was prosecuted for
trying to teach his students Darwin's theory of evolution. The production,
revamped for modern audiences, is a tense, courtroom drama.

Faculty ensemble to perform tonight
The Department of Music will sponsor a free public concert at 8
tonight in Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building,
featuring faculty ensemble the Del'Arte Wind Quintet, with Eileen Grycky,
flute; Lloyd Shorter, oboe; Charles Salinger, clarinet; Cynthia Carr, horn;
and Jon Gaarder, bassoon.
The program will include Quintetto No. 3 by G.G. Cambini, Quintet for
Winds, Op. 34 by Kvandal, Kleine Kammermusik by Hindemith and Serenade by
Ferenc Farkas.
Concerto winners to play in Loudis
The winners of the 1993 University Student Concerto Competition will
appear at 8 p.m, Tuesday, April 20, in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy
E. du Pont Music Building, as soloists in concert with a symphony orchestra
composed of professional musicians from the greater Delaware Valley.
The featured soloists and works include: Gregory Forte, piano (student
of Christine Delbeau), Piano Concerto in a minor by Robert Schumann;
Deborah Freedman, flute (student of Eileen Grycky), Poem by Charles
Griffes;
Stephen Hambright, percussion (student of Harvey Price), Concerto pour
batterie et petit orchestre by Darius Milhaud;
Patricia Hearson, euphonium (student of Jay Hildebrandt), 1st Concerto
for Euphonium by Joseph Horovitz;
Leah Hur, flute (student of Eileen Grycky), 1st Concerto for flute in
e minor, by Saverio Mercadante;Matthew Hetzler, alto saxophone (student of
Peter Hill), Concertino da camera for alto saxophone and eleven
instruments, by Jacques Ibert; and Anna Montejo, oboe (student of Lloyd
Shorter) Concerto in d minor, by Tomaso Albinoni.
General admission for the concert is $5, students with I.D. are free.
Tickets will be available in advance in Room 209 of the Amy E. du Pont
Music Building. If any tickets remain, they will be sold at the door. A
reception will follow the concert.
BiGLAD programs through Sunday
The Lesbian Gay Bisexual Student Union is sponsoring Bisexual Gay
Lesbian Awareness Days (BiGLAD) through April 18.
A lecture will be held at 7:30 tonight, in Bacchus Theatre, featuring
Sgt. Miriam Ben Shalom who will speak on lesbians, gays and bisexuals in
the military.
A one-woman play, Growing Up Queer in America , will be performed at 8
p.m., Saturday, April 17, in Bacchus Theatre. Tickets are $2 at the door.
The week's events will culminate with a safer sex workshop for lesbians,
gays and bisexuals to be held at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, April 18, in the
Kirkwood and Blue and Gold Room of the Perkins Student Center.
The Village People concert canceled
A concert by the Village People and BETTY, set for 8 p.m., Friday,
April 16, in the Bob Carpenter Center has been canceled, due to lack of
interest.
Persons who purchased tickets to the concert with cash can receive
refunds and those who used charge cards will have their accounts credited.
All transactions must be at the point of purchase.
Carpenter Center box office hours are from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Mondays
