Chemistry prof receives award
Dennis H. Evans, professor of chemistry and biochemistry has received
the l993 Reilley Award, an international cash prize for contributions to
electoanalytical chemistry.
Sponsored by the Society for Electroanalytical Chemistry, the award
consists of a plaque, a $1,500 honorarium and financial assistance for
travel to the annual conference.
The award is presented annually to recognize an active researcher who
has made a major contribution to the theory, instrumentation or
applications of electroanalysis.
Evans received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Ottawa
University in Ottawa, Kan., in l960 and his master's and doctoral degrees
from Harvard.
He joined the Delaware faculty in l986.
His research interests have centered on the mechanism of complex
multistep electrode reactions, particularly those involving organic
reactants.
A particular focus has been the characterization of the role of
conformational change and isomerization in electrode reactions.
He also has been active in refining the electroanalytical techniques
needed for study of these reactions.
