Francis Alison Award
Nominations are being for sought for the Francis Alison Award, which
carries a grant of $5,000 and is given to a faculty member who has made
notable contributions to his or her field of study. This award is made when
such an individual can be identified, not necessarily annually.
The Committee on Student and Faculty Honors asks the dean of each
college to submit the name of the one, best-qualified candidate in that
college (the College of Arts and Science may nominate as many as three,
because of its greater size).
Names of individuals who have been submitted before may be submitted
again.
Nominations must be submitted to the dean of each college prior to
April 15.
Dining equipment sale
A one-day sale of used dining equipment will be held from 9 a.m.-4
p.m., Thursday, April 1, in Harrington Dining Hall. Only cash or checks
will be accepted.

State pension info
A state of Delaware pension and retirement workshop will be held from
7-9 p.m., tonight, at Brandywine High School. A repeat presentation will be
held from 7-9 p.m., Monday, April 5, at the Stanton Middle School.
Included in the program will be remarks from representatives of the
State Pension Office and the Social Security Administration.
These workshops are sponsored by the state pension advisory council
and the state board of pension trustees.
They are co-sponsored by the Delaware State Education Association, the
Delaware Association of School Administrators, the Delaware National Guard,
the Delaware School Food Service, the Delaware State Troopers' Association,
the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Council
81, the Delaware Nurses Association, the American Association of University
Professors, the Delaware Retired School Personnel, the University of
Delaware Salaried Staff Association and the FOP, State Lodge.
Spring into fitness
Session II of "Spring into Fitness" will be held from Tuesday, April
6, through Wednesday, May 19.
Program offerings include AquaSIZE, DEEP WATER Workout, AquaCIRCUIT,
AEROBIC Dance, CardioSTEP, Step-CIRCUIT, Fitness WALKing, Road RUNNERS,
Yoga, GUTs and BUTTs, Machine MADNESS and Variety PASS.
Two new classes will be offered this session: Fit KICK, which uses
kick boxing techniques for a comprehensive workout, and FAMILY Fitness,
offered from 9-11 a.m., Saturdays, for the whole family.

Free pallets available
Receiving and Delivery is giving employees free wooden pallets on a
first-come, first-serve basis. The pallets may be placed either in
basements or garages to keep melting snow from damaging stored items.
