Training in computing

     Listed below are the Computing and Network Services (CNS) User
Services computing seminars for the spring semester. A complete User
Education Schedule is published at the beginning of each semester, and is
sent to all faculty and staff. To receive a copy, send electronic mail to
usered@brahms or call 831-8445. Registration is required for these
seminars.
     Generally, documents distributed in class must be returned to the
instructor. Starred items (*) below indicate classes for which free
handouts may be obtained prior to class  from the User Services Reference
Library, 014 Smith Hall.
     Two stars (**) indicate that the handouts included in documentation
bundles may be purchased at the University bookstore.

                         MICROCOMPUTING CLASSES

More about WordPerfect for windows: intermediate features (DOS-based
system) (advanced) * NEW
     Prerequisite: Completion of the "Introduction to WordPerfect for
Windows" class or equivalent knowledge.
     * Merging documents
     * Formatting multi-page documents
     * Creating multiple columns
     * Creating and modifying a table

     Prerequisite: Advanced-level experience with WordPerfect.
     * Formatting and aligning complicated equations
     * Printing special characters on a graphics printer

Introduction to Aldus PageMaker (Macintosh) (advanced)*
     Prerequisite: Experience with Macintosh and familiarity with Microsoft
Word or MacWrite.

                         SUN WORKSTATION CLASSES

Mathematica demonstration (novice)
     Small, informal demonstrations held the second Thursday of every
month. Instructor will demonstrate various features in Mathematica,
including problem solving and graphing. To register, call Jack Seltzer at
831-1986. When calling, be prepared to discuss the types of problems or
features to cover in class.
     Each demonstration will be tailored to individual needs.
