College Democrats
     The College Democrats meet at 6 p.m., Mondays. Upcoming meetings are
March 1, March 15, April 5, April 19, May 3 and May 17 in 101 Brown Lab.

Alcohol effects study
     Kim Fromme, assistant professor of psychology, is conducting a study
on the effects of alcohol on the perception of leisure activities. To
participate, individuals must be at least 21 years of age and be willing to
consume alcoholic beverages. Participants will be paid, and can earn up to
$35.75.

Cardiac rehabilitation
     The College of Physical Education Athletics and Recreation has
established a new community-based Phase III Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
in cooperation with the Medical Center of Delaware. The program is intended
for individuals who have completed participation in an outpatient Phase II
Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.
     Individuals considered to be cardiac prone or interested in preventing
cardiovascular disease also will be considered for enrollment. The program,
which costs $200, is offered from from 6:45-8 a.m. and 5:45-7 p.m.,
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, in the Newark Hall gymnasium.

Math presentation
     Ingrid Daubechies, professor of mathematics at Rutgers University,
will give a talk, "Orthonormal Bases of Wavelets," at 3:30 p.m., Friday,
Feb. 26, in 206 Kirkbride Lecture Hall.
     Daubechies received her doctorate from the Free University in Belgium.
She worked at AT&T Bell Labs before joining the mathematics department at
Rutgers.

Book signing tonight
     The Delaware Heritage Commission and the New Castle Historical Society
are sponsoring a book signing of The Stolen House, written by Bernard
Herman, associate professor of art history, at 8 tonight in the Christian
Education Building of the Presbyterian Church on Second Street in New
Castle.
     Herman will speak for about 45 minutes and then sign books, which will
be for sale. Admission is free.

Shuttle trips
     Shuttle trips to Washington, D.C., (to the Library of Congress and the
Folger Theatre) will be in operation during the spring 1993 semester
beginning Friday, Feb. 19.
     Please make reservations in advance by calling by Victoria Gary Miller
or Joann Civarelli, Department of English, at 831-2361 by noon on Wednesday
of each week.

Research grants
     The Office of the Vice Provost for Research invites submission of
preproposals for grants to be matched by the Delaware Research Partnership
(DRP). DRP matches grants or contracts from private industry to conduct
cooperative research with the University.
     Preproposals are due on or before Monday, March 8. To receive a
