Training in computing

     Listed below are the Computing and Network Services (CNS) User Services
computing seminars for the spring semester. A complete User Education
Schedule is published at the beginning of each semester, and is sent to all
faculty and staff. To receive a copy, send electronic mail to usered@brahms
or call 831-8445. Registration is required for these seminars.
     Generally, documents distributed in class must be returned to the
instructor. Starred items (*) below indicate classes for which free
handouts may be obtained prior to class  from the User Services Reference
Library, 014 Smith Hall.
     Two stars (**) indicate that the handouts included in documentation
bundles may be purchased at the University bookstore.

MICROCOMPUTING CLASSES

Introduction to DOS (Beginner) **
     Prerequisite: None.

More about DOS: Introducing DOS 5.0 (Novice)
     Prerequisite: Completion of the "Introduction to DOS" class or
equivalent knowledge. This class emphasizes using the DOSSHELL. The
DOSSHELL offers a visual way to work with DOS other than typing cryptic DOS
commands. This feature is available only in DOS 5.0.

Mathematica Demonstration (Novice)
     Small, informal demonstrations held the second Thursday of every
month. Instructor will demonstrate various features in Mathematica,
including problem solving and graphing. To register, call Jack Seltzer at
831-1986. When calling, be prepared to discuss the types of problems or
features to cover in class.
     Each demonstration will be tailored to individual needs.

Introduction to Pine Mail** (Beginner)
     Pine mail is a menu-driven mail program for UNIX systems.
     Prerequisite: An account on a central UNIX time-sharing system.
Attendees MUST activate their accounts at least 24 hours prior to the
class.

     * Creating, sending, reading and replying to mail messages
     * Managing mail (saving messages in folders and reading messages from
