Costel Denson honored by alma mater, UD rival-Lehigh
Costel Denson, interim vice provost for research at the University,
was recently recognized by his alma mater, Lehigh University, with
membership in the school's Legacy of Learning and Leadership program, which
honors alumni who have been successful in their professional careers.
Denson, who joined Delaware's engineering faculty in 1977, served as
interim dean of the College of Engineering before becoming interim vice
provost for research.
Next football season, the Blue Hens will once again play the Lehigh
Engineers, and Denson says he's looking forward to it. He fondly remembers
the days when the two teams were steady rivals, and, he would, the week
before the game, wear his Lehigh letter sweater to his classes on the
Delaware campus.
"Because chemical engineering is such a serious learning process," he
explains, "it was a way to create a nice rapport between faculty and
students. And, of course, it was all done in the spirit of fun!"
