Weekend shows preview national championships
The University of Delaware Figure Skating Club, under the supervision
of Ron Ludington, director of the Ice Skating Science Development Center,
is sending 49 skaters to compete in 51 events at the 1993 United States Ice
Skating Championships, to be held Jan. 16-24 in Phoenix.
Since the University's skating program has been in existence, the
University of Delaware has consistently sent the largest contingent of
skaters to the national competitions, setting the record for participating
skaters, according to Cynthia Haley, assistant to the director of
Recreation and Intramural Programs.
The public is invited to two send-off shows to be held at the Blue Ice
Arena: at 6 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, and at 4 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 10. The
doors will open a half hour in advance. Both shows will feature the senior
skating champions. The cost for each performance is $10 for adults and $7
