Visiting Czechoslovakian scholar

Ladislav Kabat, rector of the University of Nitra, in Czechoslovakia,
will be teaching two courses during Winter Session. The visit will be
Kabat's fourth to Newark. He will teach an intermediate course in
operations research as well as ECON-367, "Economic Policies in Central and
Eastern Europe."
Kabat holds degrees from the University of Bratislava and from the
University of Moscow. One of his previous visits to the campus was
sponsored by a Fulbright grant.
According to Joachim Elterich, professor of food and resource
economics and director of the Operations Research Program, Kabat's upcoming
visit continues a series of exchanges between the University of Delaware
and Nitra University which began in the early 1980s. Two of Kabat's earlier
visits-as a researcher in 1982 and a teacher in 1988-were longer than the
upcoming Winter Session stay.
Anyone interested in finding out more about Kabat's courses or his
visit to campus should contact Elterich at 831-6242 or 831-2511.
