given compensatory time off at time and one-half. The dates are to be
mutually agreed upon by the employee and supervisor. Holiday pay provisions
for hourly employees are outlined in their collective bargaining
agreements.
Recognizing the need for certain services to continue during the
recess, the following areas of Supporting Services will operate on a
limited schedule:
Campus Mail
The facility will be open Dec. 28, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. You may pick up mail
until 3 p.m. From Dec. 29-31, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., you may pick up mail until
noon.
There will be regular mail service Dec. 23. If offices have outgoing
mail not picked up, it should be brought to Campus Mail by 3 p.m. that day.
Plant operations
During this period, plant operations will make every effort to heat
buildings in an "off-hours" mode that will result in reduced indoor
temperatures. In addition, other services, such as custodial and waste
removal, will be curtailed. Offices and laboratories intending to be in
operation for any part of the recess should contact plant operations,
831-2720, to make the necessary arrangements for services.
Emergencies
Emergency response personnel will be available and can be reached by
calling Public Safety at 831-2222.
Call forwarding
Offices may have their phones transferred to the University's main
line, 831-2000, where all incoming calls will hear a recorded announcement
of the holiday recess schedule. To transfer your calls, press 72 and,
following the beep, press 2000. When you return to campus, press 73 to
deactivate the transfer.
If you are not sure if your line has call forwarding capability,
contact Telephone Services, 831-2411, by Dec. 18. No phones should be
transferred to extension 2000 before 5 p.m. on Dec. 23. Due to the high
volume of calls coming into extension 2000, University operators are unable
to handle additional calls or take messages for other departments.
Libraries
The University libraries will be closed during the holiday period.
