Downtown caroling
     The Newark Business Association, the city of Newark and the University
will sponsor caroling at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11, on the Academy Building
lawn, located on the corner of Main and Academy streets. Santa Claus will
be present from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
     The event will feature guest conductors from the city, state,
University and business community, as well as the Newark and Glasgow High
School choruses.

White House concert
     The University Chorale will continue a tradition of recent years and
will perform at the White House, from 10 a.m.-noon, Tuesday, Dec. 22. The
ensemble is under the direction of Andrew Cottle.

Library officers
     The University Library Associates elected new officers at its annual
meeting held Nov. 16. The organization is a non-profit friends group that
works to expand and enrich the research collections of the University of
Delaware Library.
     The new officers are: Frances O. Allmond, president; Wilson J. C.
Braun Jr., senior vice president; John B. Tepe Jr., vice president; J.A.
Leo Lemay, secretary/treasurer; Mary Jane Elliott, chairperson of the
development committee; and Susan Brynteson, assistant secretary/treasurer.

Art fest performance
     The art community will sponsor a concert featuring local area bands
from 6 p.m.-midnight, Saturday, Dec. 12, in the Carpenter Sports Building
gymnasium.
     There is a $5 cover charge, and all proceeds will be donated to the
University's Department of Art.

Breakfast with Santa
     Girls Incorporated of Delaware will hold a "breakfast with Santa," at
each of its four branches from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 19.
     The breakfast, which is provided by McDonald's, is open to the public.
The cost is $3.50 per person and includes pancakes, sausage, juice, milk
and coffee or tea.
     Reservations must be made by Monday, Dec. 14. For more information
