Faster hotline access available
Employee Services has installed a new touch-tone employment
hotline system that provides faster, more complete job vacancy
information for applicants while increasing internal operational
effectiveness.
According to Jim Doctson, coordinator of employment, the new
system enables touch-tone telephone callers to access 11 distinct
professional and salaried staff job vacancy categories.
"In the past, applicants had to listen to every vacancy
announcement and didn't have the option to repeat specific information
such as application procedures," Doctson said. "With this system,
there is immediate queuing to a job category and listening time has
been reduced dramatically. We've also seen a marked increase in the
number of calls made each week to the hotlines."
Job categories on the professional hotline (831-2100) involve
research/ research support, computing, student services, general
administrative and library/academic support. The staff hotline
(831-6612) categories are library, records, secretarial, service,
technical and hourly.
