Jack R. Vinson, H. Fletcher Brown Professor of Mechanical
Engineering, has been named a fellow of the American Society of
Mechanical Engineers, a world-wide engineering society of 118,000
members, for making significant contributions to the field.
Joann Browning, theatre, performed as guest artist with
Thunderclap Productions Inc., a professional dance company, at
its July residency in Milwaukee. William Browning, theatre,
served as guest lighting designer during the residency
performances.
Richard Cunningham, theatre, served as production state manager
for Greater Tuna and Rumors at last summer's Colonial Shakespeare
Festival in Westerly, R.I..
Robert Schweitzer, finance, served on faculty of Central Atlantic
Advanced School of Banking, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bankers
Association at Bucknell University, in August.
Catherine Fitzmaurice, theatre, voice coach for New York
Shakespeare Festival's April production of Blood Wedding and
Fires in the Mirror, and voice coach from May through July for
Colorado Shakespeare Festival's productions of Henry V, Winter's
Tale, All's Well That Ends Well and The Rivals. In July and
August, she performed the role of Mistress Quickly in the New
Jersey Shakespeare Festival's production of Henry IV, Part I.
Eileen Smitheimer, theatre, served as sound designer for summer
productions of 1776, A Shayna Maidel, Tin Types, Macbeth and
Willi by Hope Summer Repertory, Hope, Mich., and as lighting
designer for Landace & Company's production of Theatre of Magic,
June, Philadelphia. She also will serve this year as vice
commissioner, Sound Commision of the United States Institute for
Theatre Technology.
Douglas F. Tuttle, public safety, was appointed to the National
Advisory Board, Consortium for Higher Education Campus Crime
Research.
Susan Sweeney, theatre, performed the roles of Goneril in King
Lear and Mistress Ford in The Merry Wives of Windsor this past
summer at the Utah Shakespearean Festival.
Robert R. Jordan, Delaware Geological Survey, received a
certificate in appreciation of outstanding service from the
American Geological Institute, Oct. 27, Cincinnati.
