United Way campaign extended                           
                                                       
     Dear Colleague:                                         
     We have reached the date scheduled as the conclusion of the
University's United Way campaign. It is now evident that we have
fallen short of the goal. Given that the needs of the United Way
agencies are important and growing, it seems appropriate to ask again
that each member of the University community consider carefully
whether he or she is able to contribute to the support required by
these agencies.                                              
     We are very grateful to the many staff, professionals and faculty
who have contributed to the United Way campaign. Thank you. If you are
able to add to your gift, simply complete and return the slip at the
bottom of this page.                                         
     If you have not yet contributed to the United Way, we hope that
you will do so. The current economy and a host of other factors have
combined to make the needs of the United Way agencies even more urgent
than in years past. Your help will be most welcome and appreciated.
Please complete and return the form below no later than Nov. 30.
