1st place win by continuing ed staff                   
                                                       
     On Oct. 3, Micaela Corradin and Harvey Price of the Division of
Continuing Education's Professional Development and Non-Credit
Programs received the first-place award of excellence in the Special
Populations Category from the National University Continuing Education
Association (NUCEA).                                         
     They won for "Jazz Reach," an intergenerational summer workshop
program that provides aspiring jazz musicians with opportunities to
learn, practice and perform with professional musicians. Co-sponsored
with three, local non-profit organizations, it was specifically
designed to be affordable to an urban, minority audience.    
     The awards committee selected the program for its overall
quality, effectiveness, efficiency, innovative nature and its
contributions to adult education.
