MBNA America makes gift in support of concourse
MBNA America gave a gift of $325,000 to the University of
Delaware to fund the MBNA America Concourse in the Bob Carpenter
Center.
In making the announcement last January, University President
David P. Roselle praised MBNA's "generous support" of the University.
"Since 1982, when MBNA moved to Delaware, that giving has totaled
nearly $1 million in support of a variety of activities," Roselle
said, calling MBNA one of Delaware's "outstanding corporate
citizens."
According to MBNA Chairman and CEO Charles M. Cawley, "The
quality of the faculty and students at the University of Delaware was
a key component in MBNA's decision to move to Delaware.
"Over the past 10 years, our respect for the University of
Delaware and its importance to the success of MBNA has grown," Cawley
said. "Currently, more than 1,500 of the people of MBNA America are
either University of Delaware graduates or are presently attending the
University."
Cawley said, "As MBNA America looks to the future, we expect
sustained growth and a continued emphasis on peerless customer
service. The University of Delaware is a long-term partner as we
continue that never-ending journey to excellent customer service."
MBNA America is a leading nationwide issuer, marketer and
servicer of bank credit cards.
