Breaking the ice with ice cream                                
                                                               
     New students and their parents got acquainted over ice cream and
the fixings at the opening of African-American orientation. From Aug.
27-30, approximately 75 African-American freshman and transfer       
students participated in workshops, advisement sessions and attended a        
banquet with keynote speaker Edwin J. Nichols, a noted               
clinical/industrial psychologist. Recreational and social events also
were part of the program.
