United Way offers employees on-site 'caring' experiences
The United Way of Delaware is putting helping hands to work this
year to kick off the 1992 campaign.
According to University campaign co-chairs Joyce Dennis, Employee
Services, and Deborah Dintenfass, Benefits Services, donors will be
given the opportunity to work alongside their dollars to learn how
United Way donations help the community.
Dennis said that "Days of Caring," Sept. 14-20, will offer a
"wonderful opportunity" for University employees to learn more about
where their contributions go.
Each "day of caring" will be dedicated to a specific area of
need: Monday, Sept. 14-the elderly; Tuesday, Sept. 15-families in
crisis; Wednesday, Sept. 16-youth at risk; Thursday Sept. 17-hunger
and homelessness; Friday, Sept. 18-community health and services for
the disabled. However, any targeted care area can be served on any
day.
In support of "Days of Caring," the administration has approved
half-day release time for the first 25 University employees wishing to
provide volunteer service to a United Way agency.
Release time is subject to approval by supervisors or unit heads,
who will make judgments based upon the needs of the individual unit.
Interested persons should contact Judy Hahn, "Days of Caring"
coordinator, at 831-2381 by Sept. 10.
