Register for one specific program or sample several with the Variety
Pass!
Students, note! Programs are open to all members of the University
community. Student registrations are supplemented by the Student
Comprehensive Fee (SCF), and students should note their special fee
structure in parentheses. Student aerobic sessions, which begin Sept.
21, are fully covered by the SCF, and a schedule may be obtained from
the Student Fitness Center.
Programs:
Aerobic dance: A combination of dance movements, running, walking and
calisthenics choreographed to music. Class members can choose to work
at their own pace through either low- or high-impact variations. Each
class reflects the individual style of the instructor. This workout is
designed to train the cardiovascular system and improve body
composition, as well as strengthen the upper and lower body and the
abdominals. (Carpenter Sports Building is noted as CSB)

AquaCIZE: A great low-impact, cardiovascularly demanding workout.
Class consistsof a warm-up and stretch, followed by an aerobic and
isolated body toning segment and finishes with a cooldown stretch.
Exercises can be incorporated into the routines from both the shallow
and deep ends of the pool. Individuals uncomfortable out of their
depth can therefore exercise at the level where they are most
comfortable.

AquaTREAD: A low-impact cardiovascularly demanding workout performed
in the diving well. Treading varieties and jogging in the deep water
will be the main emphasis of this workout with special toning
segments. Must be confident in deep water.

Power walking: An invigorating, calorie-burning, stress-reducing power
walk. Gives you time to yourself to adjust from the pressures of work
and ease into those of home and family. Tour the streets of Newark
walking at a brisk pace that challenges your cardiovascular system.
Walk from Carpenter Sports Building at your own pace with friends and
a fearless leader.

Yoga: Increase your muscular flexibility and learn relaxation methods
for the reduction of stress. Postures are focused upon improving
strength and balance through a variety of stretches.

Guts and butts: An intensive calisthenic workout designed to
strengthen and firm those trouble spots. Exercises will emphasize the
abdominals, hips and thighs with a little upper-body work thrown in!
Guaranteed to produce results when combined with an effective
cardiovascular program.

AerobiCIRCUIT: Utilize various pieces of cardiovascular equipment in a
circuit format for an intense aerobic workout. Program is held as a
class format where each participant can work at his or her own pace.
Ideal way to add variety to a fitness routine.

Variety pass: Offered to those wishing to achieve their fitness goals
through a variety of methods. You may enroll for the variety pass and
attend a number of sessions from the different program offerings
(except stroke mechanics and cardioSTEP). Bring your pass to each
session and have the instructor note your attendance. This pass will
be valid for fall programs only.
Cost: $30/ 20 sessions * $22/ 15 sessions
Competitive stroke mechanics: Taught by a former competitive
collegiate swimmer, this program is offered in a clinic format where
there will be an opportunity to have your swim strokes analyzed,
obtain coaching on improving their efficiency and have a chance to
practice and improve. This course is ideal for triathletes, master
swimmers and others who use swimming as their primary method of
fitness and want to take the activity a step further. All four strokes
will be worked on, along with flip turns and the latest backstroke
roll turn. Course participants must be accomplished swimmers.

In-line fitness: Enjoy the path to fitness through this latest
innovative activity. Learn the basics of in-line skating. Activities
will include street skating and aerobics, progressing to advanced
moves. Class activities are geared toward the ability of class
participants. Taught by an enthusiastic and daring instructor. (Skates
and safety gear may be rented at special cost from Delaware Sporting
Goods.)

CardioSTEP: Step into shape with this great, low-impact cardiovascular
workout set to music. CardioSTEP is easy on the knees and ankles and
can burn calories equal to running a 7-minute mile! Targeting the
gluteals, this workout resculpts the major muscles of the lower body.
Intensive abdominal work finishes the hour. This class is designed to
get more challenging as the session progresses. Class size limited to
15 participants.

Fitness QUEST: Transform your body through a combination of
cardiovascular and strength conditioning activities. Other behaviors
that may impact your body image and fitness level will also be
addressed. Meet with a personal trainer who will design a program
specifically for your needs, and exercise in a supportive environment
with other individuals who all share the common goal of achieving a
more satisfying body image. An ideal program for those who have found
it difficult to start a fitness program in the past, or who have been
dissatisfied with the results obtained from one type of fitness
activity. Periodic meetings will be scheduled with the trainer who
will personally supervise and update all fitness activities. (Minimum
number participants: 8; Maximum: 10)
Time/ Location: Minimum of two hours of supervised exercise per
week plus ,additional meeting times with trainer. TBA with
participants after registration.

Program registration form must be completed by Sept. 9.
Courses with insufficient registration at that time will be
cancelled and those registered will be notified and have their fee
refunded. Registration may be performed through completing the
enclosed application and returning it to CSB accompanied by your check
or by personally enrolling at the CSB front desk. For more
