Blue Hens to host Maine's Bears

The nationally ranked Fightin' Blue Hens (7-1, 4-1 in Yankee
Conference) take on the University of Maine's Black Bears (2-6, 2-4
in Yankee Conference) at 1 p.m., Saturday, as part of the
University's Parents Day activities.
After a comeback win over the U.S. Naval Academy, 29-25 in
Annapolis last week, the Blue Hens are ranked ninth in the NCAA's
weekly Division I-AA poll, just behind undefeated, eighth place New
Hampshire. Last week, Delaware was ranked 11th in the same poll.
Maine (3-8, 2-6 in Yankee Conference last season) has lost 10
straight road games since 1989, including eight Yankee Conference
matches. In sharp contrast, Delaware has won nine of its last 12
home games, and has scored an average of 31.5 points per game this
season.
Delaware and Maine first played each other in 1972. Saturday's
contest will be the 17th in the series.
The game will be broadcast live on WDEL-am (1150), starting
with a pre-game show at 12:30 p.m. Highlights of the contest will
be shown at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, and at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, on
WNS-TV (Heritage Cablevision, Channel 2).
