Computer program deadline nears
The Dec. 1 deadline is approaching for faculty and staff
members to take advantage of the University's computer purchase
program.
Permanent employees who are eligible for full-time benefits
may purchase computing equipment and software at educational
discounts.
There are two options available:
* A no-interest installment payment plan up to $5,000;
and
* Full payment in cash with a 5 percent discount.
Participants may purchase complete computer systems or
peripheral equipment such as printers, software or upgrade
equipment. Only one system or central processor unit may be
purchased through the program.
The purchasing plan, which went into effect April 1, has been
a success, with 402 orders placed as of Sept. 23, representing
approximately 10 percent of the total number of employees,
according to Susan Foster, associate vice president for computing
and network services.
Last April, President David P. Roselle sent a letter,
accompanied by a detailed brochure, to faculty and staff inviting
them to participate in the purchase program. Copies of the letter
and brochure are available at the Microcomputing Resource Center
at 040 Smith Hall.
For advice about individual computing needs and further
information about the purchasing plan, call 451-8895 or visit the
Microcomputing Resource Center.
