Girl Scout day care
     The Chesapeake Bay Girl Scout Council Inc. is offering day
care for school-aged children from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. on days when
the University is open but the Christina School District is closed.
     The 1991-92 schedule at its new facility on South College
Avenue is as follows: Oct. 11, Dec. 23, Feb. 14, Feb. 17 and April
20-24.
     Reservations must be made by Wednesday, Oct. 2 for the Oct. 11
session.
     According to Amy Adams, who is in charge of the facility, a
full day of indoor and outdoor activities is scheduled, with a
small child to staff ratio. Looking ahead to Halloween, the theme
on Oct. 11 will be the good side of monsters.
     Snacks and beverages are provided, but children should bring
lunch.
     The cost for each day is $17.50 for the first child, and there
is a 20 percent sibling discount. University employees receive a 10
percent discount.

Foreign mini grants
     Guidelines/applications for the International Travel Awards
and International Mini-Grants are available from faculty
departments or the Office of International Programs and Special
Sessions. Those planning activities are invited to apply for funds.
     Applications for International Travel Awards are accepted on
a continuing basis and will be reviewed periodically during the
fall. Reviews of applications will begin for all those received as
of Sept. 30, and the next review period will be Dec. 15.
     Applications for International Mini-Grants will continue to
operate in cycles. The fall cycle will be for activities planned
during Jan. 1-June 30, 1992. The deadline for the fall cycle is
Oct. 30.

Managing stress
     The first Lunch-and-Learn program, "Managing Stress,"
sponsored by the Employee Fitness and Wellness Program, will be
held at 12:10 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, in the Collins Room of the
Perkins Student Center.
     Facilitators are Anne Lomax and Joyce Walters of Student
Health Services.

Teaching large classes
     A session to focus on ideas for teaching large enrollment,
introductory level courses will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m.,
Monday, Oct. 7, in the Collins Room at the Perkins Student Center.
     Participants should bring their own lunches, and beverages
will be provided.

Learn to swim
     On Saturdays, Oct. 5 - Nov. 23, a total of eight 45-minute
swimming sessions will be offered at the University Carpenter
Sports Building Pool for children between the ages of 4-14.
     Swimmers will have two sessions to choose from: 10-10:45 a.m.
or 11-11:45 a.m. The cost of the program is $40.
     All levels of swimming will be offered at each session
(beginner, advanced beginner, intermediate and advanced).

Travel awards
     Applications for the Special Travel Award Program are
available in the Office of Women's Affairs. The deadline for fall
semester submission is Oct. 15.
     Intended to improve the position of women at the University,
the program is used as a matching fund to assist academic
departments and administrative units in supplying travel for women
and for men participating in professional outlets that involve
women's issues.
     Awards will be announced by Nov. 15.

DUSC calendar
     Meetings of the Delaware Undergraduate Student Congress (DUSC)
are scheduled at 3:30 p.m., Mondays, Sept. 16-Oct. 14, in the
Perkins Student Center.
     Call the DUSC office at 451-2648 to check on the meeting room
location.

Retirees meeting
     The University of Delaware Retired Faculty organization will
hold its noon lunch/discussion/fellowship meetings this fall on
Tuesdays, from 11:45 a.m.- 2 p.m.
     Meetings are scheduled on Oct. 8 and 22, Nov. 12 and 26 and
Dec. 10.
