Up and coming
A variety of classes and courses will be offered during the
fall semester through the Office of Recreation and Intramural
Programs.
Self-defense
A self-defense program is being offered for eight weeks from
7-8:30 p.m., Mondays, Sept. 30 - Nov. 18, in the Wrestling Room of
Carpenter Sports Building.

Self-protection
A series of self-protection workshops will be offered at
different sites throughout campus for students, faculty and staff.
Each class will teach basic self-protection skills, including
blocking, hitting, kicking and the use of pressure-point
techniques.
Participants should wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing
and sneakers, since participation and practice are a part of each
workshop session.

semester are listed below.

Monthly dance party
A dance party will be held on the second Friday of every month
from 9-11 p.m. in the front gym of Carpenter Sports Building.
The evening dance will be hosted by disc jockeys and
instructors from Brad Morris Dance Productions. Entry fee is $3 per
person. The dance is open to faculty, staff and full-time students.
Campus Run-Around
A 5K run/walk is part of this year's Homecoming activities.
The event will begin at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5.
Pre-registration, at reduced cost, will be accepted before Oct. 2.
There will be nine age divisions and several categories of
awards for male and female participants. The race course will wind
through the University grounds, starting at Hullihen Hall and
finishing on the Mall.

Ballroom dancing
For six weeks, beginning Sunday, Sept. 29, faculty, staff and
students will be able to participate in four different dance
classes including Jitterbug, 5 p.m.; Beginning Ballroom, 6 p.m.;
Latin American, 7 p.m; and Night Club, 8 p.m.
Classes will be held in Carpenter Sports Building. Carolyn
Rollin of Brad Morris Dance Productions is the instructor. There is
no charge for U.D. students. Cost for faculty and staff is $25 per
session.
Pre-registration is required for all classes. Registration may
be made in Room 101A Carpenter Sports Building.
Additional ballroom dancing courses in the same four styles is
planned for the spring semester, beginning Feb. 17. In addition, a
Holiday Ballroom Dance will be held from 7:30-10 p.m., Sunday, Dec.
1, in the Rodney Room of the Perkins Student Center. A Spring
Ballroom Dance is planned for Sunday, April 26, 1992.

Water exercise
Aquacise, the ultimate fun, cool and stress-free workout, is
being offered during the fall semester, from 6 - 7 p.m., Mondays
through Thursdays, in Carpenter Sports Building pool.
The class, which currently is in progress, is free to full
time U.D. students.

Staff/faculty volleyball
Informal, coed, recreational volleyball will be offered for
faculty and staff. The first two evening sessions will take place
from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Wednesdays, Oct. 16 and 23, in the front gym
of Carpenter Sports Building.
After these two sessions, additional dates will be scheduled.
