Employee contributions sought for 1992-93 campaign

During the 1991-92 giving year, current and past employees
contributed over $535,000 to the work of the University, according to
John M. Clayton Jr., assistant director of development.
Those gifts are greatly appreciated as a statement of support by
the people who best know the needs and opportunities for giving, said
Clayton.
Now gifts and pledges are being received for the current giving
years. Early returns by mid-August show contributions or pledges of
over $17,163 through the Employee Annual Campaign.
Clayton encourages employees who have not contributed to the
University since July 1 to join colleagues who are returning their
pledge forms to the Development Office this summer.
Recent gifts or pledges are mainly for current operations of
colleges, departments or programs; however, gifts may be made to
capital projects such as the Bob Carpenter Center, Excellence in
Chemical Education Campaign, and other building or endowment projects
the donor wishes to support.
Persons wishing to use the form for convenient payroll deduction
should indicate either the total amount they want deducted by June 30,
1993, or the amount they wish deducted each pay.
The number of pay periods is variable, depending upon when the
pledge is received and recorded, so it is best to leave that blank
since the giving year has started, said Wanda M. Simons, coordinator
of annual giving. Donor pledges will be acknowledged by the
Development Office to verify designations and the amount to be given.
Anyone who did not receive the Employee Annual Campaign
solicitation materials, or who would like another set, can e-mail or
call Simons at x2104.
Gifts or pledges may be sent to the Office of University
Development at any time, using the return form or by enclosing a short
note in a sealed envelope marked "Confidential: for the Annual
Employee Campaign," Simons noted.
