Alumni Association to offer three trips
     The Alumni Association is offering trips to Germany, Egypt and
New York City. The trip to the Oktoberfest in Germany will depart
Sept. 18 and return Sept. 25. The New York City theatre tour is
scheduled for Oct. 16-17. The trip to Egypt, including a Nile River
cruise, is scheduled for Feb. 10-21.
     These trips are open to the general public. For information, call
the Office of Alumni Relations at 831-2431.

Farm & Home Day Aug. 12 in G-town
     The University's Farm and Home Field Day will be held from 8 a.m.
-2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the grove of the Agricultural Sciences
Research and Education Center on Route 9, west of Georgetown.
     Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners from Sussex County will
present several demonstration projects, along with displays from
various state agencies, as well as consumer and commodity groups.
     A fried chicken lunch will be available at noon for $5 per
person. A schedule of events is available at all county Cooperative
Extension offices.

Churchill program at student center
     "Churchill: Man of the Century" will be presented from 1:15-2:45
p.m., Tuesday, July 28, in the Bacchus Theatre at the Perkins Student
Center.
     Free and open to the public, the event features Dale S. Johnson,
veteran professional actor.
     Many remember Churchill as the prime minister of England during
World War II, but he also was an artist, writer, bricklayer, cavalry
officer, pilot, prisoner of war, orator, knight, war correspondent,
lifelong member of the House of Commons and one of the most beloved
figures in all of British history.
     Johnson's portrayal combines all of these traits in a performance
that has been billed as "much more than a history lesson, attaching
special importance to the wit, wisdom and legacy of an all-time great
historical figure."
     Johnson's appearance is sponsored by the Office of Student Center
Programs.

Chapter bash for Jersey, Philly alums
     The University's southern New Jersey and Philadelphia alumni
chapters are sponsoring a "Beach Bash for Cash" from 5-9 p.m.,
Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Princeton Bar and Grill in the Circle Tavern,
2008 Dune Drive, Avalon, N.J. Cost is $10 per person and includes a
T-shirt. Money raised will benefit existing scholarships at the
University.

Art exhibition will feature four staff
     "Artistic Potpourri," a mixed media art exhibition which includes
work of four University staff members, is on display through Aug. 7 in
the lobby of Clayton Hall. Included are works by Char Coleman, civil
engineering; Linda A.D. Olsen, development office; Patricia Ethelwyn
Howell, educational studies; and Leslie A. Lindsay, plant
operations-custodial services.
     The exhibit is open from 8 a.m.-8:30 p.m., Mondays-Thursdays, and
8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Fridays. For weekend hours, call 831-1259.

Special UD ticket offer for NCC fair
     University employees can take advantage of a special advance
ticket offer for three shows at the New Castle County Fair, scheduled
Sept. 17-20 at Delaware Park.
     Tickets for Nickelodeon's Wild & Crazy Kids, Nick On Stage and
the National Wrestling Federation Championship Matches are available
to U.D. employees now, but they will go on sale to the general public
Aug. 1.
     All performances will be held in the circus tent on the
fairgrounds. Tickets all carry a service charge and may be purchased
by calling Ticketmaster at 984-2000.
     The National Wrestling Federation Championships are scheduled for
8 p.m.., Thursday, Sept. 17. Tickets are $12, until Sept. 1, they will
be $15.
     Tickets for Nick on Stage are $7, until Sept. 1, when they will
be $10. Shows are scheduled for 4 and 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 18.
     Tickets for Wild & Crazy Kids are $7, until Sept. 1, when cost
will be $10. Shows are scheduled for 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., on
Saturday, Sept. 19, and for 1 and 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 20.
     The special advance ticket price has been extended to employees
of organizations belonging to the New Castle County Chamber of
Commerce- a co-sponsor of the fair.
