Changing scene

     A 70-year-old copper leaf beech tree on the north side of Smith
Hall has been cut down--the victim of a combination of factors,
including a truck injury, drought and construction in the area. The
large tree was the centerpiece of the area previously referred to as
the Knoll. New landscaping will be planted in the area this fall.
