Wise recognized at convention

     Paul Wise, director of the University's Hotel, Restaurant and
Institutional Management Program, received the Lamp of Knowledge Award
for Outstanding Educator from the Educational Institute of the
American Hotel and Motel Association (AH&MA), at its annual convention
in Toronto.
     Wise, a fellow of the institute, has served on its certification
and educational programs committees. In presenting the award, E. Ray
Swan, institute president and chief executive officer, praised Wise as
a "consistent source of input and support for the institute," a
"strong promoter of hospitality careers" and a "respected spokesperson
for the academic community."
     The institute, founded in 1952 and located at Michigan State
University, is a non-profit, educational foundation of AH&MA and
offers training resources for all operations of the hospitality
industry, including videotapes, books and how-to publications,
courses, self-training audio tapes, seminar packages, interactive
video programs and instructional hardware.
